Williams Has Eye Surgery
New York Giant center Brian Williams underwent surgery in an effort to correct the double vision he has experienced since suffering a broken bone around his right eye July 21.
Williams, 31, suffered the injury when he was poked in the eye during one-on-one drills in training camp. Coach Jim Fassel said there was no plan to put Williams on injured reserve, which would force him to sit out the season.

Georgia law-enforcement authorities said Washington Redskin Terry Allen was legally drunk when his Ferrari slammed into a tree in July, according to a Washington Post report.
Allen, who sat out last week’s game because of a thumb injury, is scheduled to play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.
He was charged with driving under the influence and fleeing Georgia police at 133 mph in the incident about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta.
Each of the six misdemeanor traffic citations stemming from the crash carries a maximum fine of $1,000 and a 12-month jail sentence. Allen could appear at a hearing in Walton County, Ga., in early October. He also could be put in the NFL’s substance-abuse program if convicted.
