Titans Defeat Arkansas in Volleyball
Cal State Fullerton defeated Arkansas in four games to advance in the Fresno State women’s volleyball tournament Friday.
LaCretia Smith and Allison Anderson combined for 42 kills for the Titans, who won, 16-14, 13-15, 15-10, 15-8. Carolyn Kittell had 68 assists.
In an earlier match, Cal State Fullerton beat Montana, 10-15, 15-6, 15-10, 16-14. Smith and Stephanie Cargill each had 10 kills to lead the Titans.
In the Oregon State men’s soccer tournament:
UC Irvine 0, Oregon State 0 (OT)--Tyler Reid had five saves for UC Irvine (1-0-2), which outshot Oregon State, 17-12. Bryan Hill had nine saves for the Beavers (2-2-1).
In the San Diego men’s soccer tournament:
Cal State Fullerton 3, Boston University 0--Alessio Smith, Keiichi Yamamoto and Charlie Lynch each scored for Fullerton (3-1). Boston is 4-1.
In the Southern California men’s soccer tournament:
Concordia 3, La Verne 1--Michael Weniger, Shay Fox and Josh Egan each scored in Concordia’s second-round victory. Tom Pfotenhauer had 13 saves for Concordia (2-1).
Southern California College 2, College of Notre Dame 1--Chuy Miramontes and Martin Lippens each scored first half goals for SCC (4-0). Mathew Rsor had three saves for SCC.
In nonconference women’s soccer:
Chapman 2, Cal Baptist 0--Sara Stratton and Natalie Kaylor scored and Natalie Angelo recorded her fifth consecutive shutout for Chapman (5-0).
