Pancake Breakfast to Aid Boy With Cancer
Firefighters will donate the proceeds from an annual pancake breakfast today to help a boy with Down syndrome who has cancer.
Cory Chaney, 12, was found to have leukemia more than three years ago, said Jeff Nisbet of the Culver City Fire Department.
Firefighters were spurred to action when they learned that Cory’s mother, Pam, had lost her airline job, allegedly for taking too much time off to attend to her sick son.
A small percentage of proceeds from the breakfast will go to Christmastime charities traditionally supported by the firefighters, Nisbet said.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and $2 for children.
The event will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. at Fire Station No. 1, 9600 Culver Blvd. For information or to make a donation: (310) 253-6810.
