ANAHEIM
The Police Department has applied for a state grant to help introduce more gang intervention programs. Council members last week unanimously approved the department’s application to the Office of Criminal Justice Planning for the Delinquency Prevention and Intervention program. If approved, the grant, which can peak at about $100,000, will fund a gang diversion officer for the school district, Capt. Stephen Sain said. The city has about 75 gangs with at least 5,000 members.
