Orange Lutheran Gets Brea Assistant as Coach

Tony Matson, an assistant at Brea Olinda, said he has accepted a position as the girls’ basketball coach at Orange Lutheran.

Matson was in charge of the defense and post play for the Ladycats. Matson was an assistant at Brea for five seasons.

Cal State Fullerton’s Megan Berry has qualified for the NCAA West Regional women’s gymnastics meet in the all-around.

Berry, a freshman from Mesa, Ariz., finished sixth in the Big West Conference meet Saturday.

Dennis Hurley has been named girls’ basketball coach at Irvine High.Hurley, an assistant the last two seasons, replaced Diane Vaughan.

El Modena wrestling Coach Alan Clinton has agreed to become the wrestling coach at Santa Ana College.

Clinton said he plans to remain as a teacher, the wrestling coach and the girls’ athletic director at El Modena.

Rose Imbriano, who led Calvary Chapel to a pair of Southern Section softball titles, has resigned for personal reasons, Athletic Director Joe Walters said. Imbriano had coached at Calvary Chapel the past three seasons. Assistant Donna King will take over for the rest of the season.
