Sears, Roebuck & Co. has signed a deal that will put one of its new Great Indoors home decorating stores into Empire Center, a 103-acre development proposed by Los Angeles-based Zelman Development Co. on former Lockheed aerospace property at Empire Avenue and the I-5 Freeway in Burbank.

Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Sears reached an agreement with Zelman Retail Partners Inc. to acquire the 12 acres, according to broker Brent Howell of CB Richard Ellis Retail Services, who represented Sears in the acquisition of the 12-acre parcel.

Earlier this year, Sears signed a lease with Irvine Retail Properties Co. of Newport Beach for a 142,000-square-foot Great Indoors site at Alton Parkway and I-5 Freeway in Irvine and acquired 16 acres at Payton Drive and State Highway 71 in Chino Hills for another location.
