Civilians Under Fire

Obviously, the Israeli army thought that a civilian Palestinian with a bulletproof vest would be a safe courier of an offer for a wanted Hamas terrorist to surrender (“Israeli Court Bans Use of ‘Human Shields,’ ” Aug. 19). It was wrong, and the terrorist shot and killed the young man. Subsequently an Israeli court has placed an injunction on this behavior.
In contrast, no Palestinian court has ever placed an injunction on mass murder of Israeli civilians by terrorists. No suicide bomber has ever made an offer of surrender rather than of death to his victims. No Arab combatant has ever tried to avoid Israeli civilian death in any way, shape or form. Sometimes, we miss the forest for the trees.
