Experiments on Animals Both Here and Abroad

I am dumbfounded at the endless horror expressed by television news reporters and other talking heads in response to the heart-rending scenes of small dogs being cruelly subjected to poison gases and dying quite horribly in the Middle East before our eyes (Aug. 19). Where are all these horrified newspersons when it is common knowledge that all our major universities, medical research facilities and teaching hospitals routinely commit even more despicable and terrible tests on every sort of animal, including our nearest mammal relative, apes and monkeys, each day?
Thousands and thousands of helpless animals have been tortured and killed in the name of “helping humans” in the last 70 years here in the U.S. What a hypocritical bit of reportage. With all the publicity engendered by animal activists, these reporters can’t be that stupid. Maybe these tapes will shine a light on the heartlessness going on in our own country.
