One of the most popular events of the year at this track will be held for the eighth time on Saturday.

The Wiener Nationals, featuring 64 dachshunds, will compete in a series of 50-yard races before the card begins at 6:30 p.m. The eight fastest runners will compete in the final with $1,000 going to the winning owner.

Proceeds from the Wiener Nationals, sponsored by the Wienerschnitzel fast-food chain, will benefit the Seal Beach Animal Care Center, a nonprofit organization that helps find homes for stray animals in Orange County.
