Quattrone Team Is Denied Access to Juror’s Letter
The judge who presided at the trial of Frank Quattrone won’t allow defense lawyers to review a letter he received from one of the jurors two days after the former Silicon Valley investment banker was sentenced, according to court records.
The juror wrote to U.S. District Judge Richard Owen on Sept. 10. Last week, Owen denied a request from defense lawyer Mark Pomerantz to see the letter, saying it was immaterial, the records indicate.
Pomerantz, who is appealing the verdict, said he wanted to review the letter to learn whether it might help Quattrone, who was sentenced to 18 months in prison for obstructing government probes of hot stock offerings.
Prosecutors opposed the defense’s request, saying disclosure of the letter could threaten the juror’s privacy.
Quattrone is free on bail, awaiting review of his case.
