Re “Planning for Worse Than Taxes,” editorial, March 22: Make it a marriage license requirement that an advance directive must be completed prior to marriage.

Multiple benefits result: It creates another reason for newlyweds to think things through before taking the serious step. The directive’s existence is recorded along with the license, and it forces the creation of the document.
