Opposing Views on Fate of Magic Mountain Park

Share

Regarding “Six Flags May Sell Its Magic Mountain Park” (June 23):

So Dan Snyder and Mark Shapiro expect us to believe that they will probably close perhaps the greatest assemblage of roller coasters in the world because of the park’s “rowdy teenage atmosphere” that is driving away business?

Please. These two arrogant, heartless excuses for businessmen obviously seized this amusement park with the sole intention of pawning it off to the real estate development company that would write the biggest check. The rotten ethics and attitudes of Snyder, Shapiro and their ilk never fail to amaze.

Bravo, Mr. Snyder. Thanks so much for giving me more generic Valencia homes and lousy retail centers while torpedoing the centerpiece of the city.

I agree that surly, rude groups of wannabe thugs that pass as teenagers is what is driving people away from Magic Mountain and other amusement parks.

Many families with children don’t want to see young adults cursing loudly and giving people hard looks. We spend a lot of money and want to enjoy our family outings. We can take our money somewhere else instead of having to deal with loudmouth, out-of-control teens.

You can blame the idiot parents for raising low-class young people who think that their actions don’t affect people.

Once a favorite family attraction, Magic Mountain for many years now has been hijacked by gangbangers and unruly teenagers.

Park management and park operators are directly to blame for this.

Their lack of action to maintain a family-safe environment and contain the rowdiness makes them culpable in the pending demise.

Disneyland and Universal Studios operators never have let this problem fester.

So losing this once-great California theme park is no great loss. I say bring on the bulldozers.
