Give the Flaming Lips a hand

The Flaming Lips have rarely if ever wavered from their defiantly oddball course, so the veteran Oklahoma City band’s growing popularity is a testament to the appeal of idiosyncrasy. The new album, “At War With the Mystics,” continues its tradition of blending philosophical rumination with mind-bending rave-up, and the Hollywood Bowl should be an ideal setting for its famous concert antics, including the folks in animal suits.
