Man is charged in bus stop attack
Prosecutors have filed charges against an alleged gang member accused of shooting into a crowd at a South Los Angeles bus stop, wounding five children and three adults.
The district attorney’s office says it filed 15 felony counts on Monday against Billy Ray Hines. The charges include attempted murder and assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
Hines faces eight life sentences in prison if convicted of all counts.
Authorities allege Hines was targeting two people when he opened fire Wednesday at a busy intersection filled with shoppers, motorists and students.
