A former handyman was convicted in the slayings of seven people whose bodies were found in a walk-in freezer and cooler at a suburban Chicago restaurant 16 years ago.
Jurors now must decide whether James Degorski, 37, should be sentenced to death.
Prosecutors alleged he shot and stabbed two owners and five employees of the Brown’s Chicken and Pasta restaurant in Palatine “because he wanted to do something big.”
Juan Luna, a friend of Degorski, was convicted of the 1993 crime in 2007 and sentenced to life in prison.
