Amy Schumer lands book deal that could be worth $10 million

Amy Schumer has already conquered Hollywood, and now she’s setting her sights on the publishing industry.

The comedian and star of Comedy Central’s “Inside Amy Schumer” has landed a book deal rumored to be worth $8 million to $10 million, Entertainment Weekly reports. News that she’d been shopping a book for that much was reported earlier this month by Publishers Weekly.

Entertainment Weekly says that the essay collection drew interest from several publishers, who “had to offer a bid on the book to even get a meeting with Schumer.”

There’s no word yet on which publisher landed the book. Vanity Fair speculates that it will be published by Penguin Random House, the press that has released successful books by Mindy Kaling and Lena Dunham.

The news comes just days after Schumer won an Emmy for “Inside Amy Schumer,” her controversial sketch comedy show. Schumer also wrote and starred in the movie “Trainwreck,” which was released this summer to commercial success and critical acclaim. Writing for the Times, Rebecca Keegan called the film “surprisingly touching and raucously funny.”

While the title and release date of the book remain a mystery, it’s likely a safe bet that it will outsell the literary effort of her second cousin once removed, Sen. Chuck Schumer. His book “Positively American: Winning Back the Middle-Class Majority One Family at a Time” is currently ranked at number 866,288 on Amazon.
