Giant Food plans to sell a floral line designed by actress/singer Queen Latifah starting next month.
The Queen Collection, a line of floral bouquets and plants, will be available at the Baltimore area's largest supermarket chain starting Oct. 7. Ahold USA, the parent of Landover-based Giant Food, plans to sell the line at all its U.S. stores, including Giant/Martin's, based in Carlisle, Pa., and Stop & Shop in New England.
"I love flowers, giving them and receiving them," Queen Latifah said Wednesday in the company's announcement.
She said the grocer came to her with the idea, and "I jumped at the chance to create my own floral line that is beautiful, and easily accessible at popular grocery stores, at affordable prices."
The line's eight floral bouquets were inspired by the performer's career, with names such as the Passion Rose Bunch, Hope Bouquet, Unity Bouquet and the Confidence Bouquet.
