1960s Chevrolet Corvair

This was Chevrolet’s response to the first wave of the mass-market import cars to hit U.S. shores, especially the Volkswagen Beetle. The Corvair also competed with small cars being introduced by domestic rivals, including the Ford Falcon and Plymouth Valiant. Kelley Blue Book observed that although the Corvair received good marks from car reviewers, “Ralph Nader's devastating 'Unsafe at Any Speed' inflicted a mortal wound to the car's reputation.”
