Asked to name L.A.’s hottest housing markets with musicians, actors and sports stars, places like Beverly Hills, Malibu and West Hollywood immediately come to mind. This week’s roundup, however, includes several homes in the Encino area, and reminds us there is a lot going on in the Valley. Totally.

Our Home of the Week is an original Greene & Greene built in Pasadena 113 years ago. The Greene brothers, Charles and Henry, are remembered for their Craftsman home designs. This 7,162-square-foot specimen, priced at $4 million, does not disappoint, with its tapered posts, leaded-glass windows and abundance of woodwork.

He powered out of town

Blake Griffin, the former L.A. Clippers star who last year was traded to the Detroit Pistons, has put his home in Pacific Palisades on the market for $10.995 million. That’s enough to easily buy a dozen nice houses in his new hometown of Franklin, Mich.

The gated Cape Cod-inspired home has about 9,600 square feet of living space on three levels. Off the two-story entry are formal living and dining rooms, a center-island kitchen and a family room with a fireplace. Other living spaces include a lower-level home theater, a game room and a gym. There are six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms.

A saltwater swimming pool, a basketball half-court and an outdoor kitchen complete the roughly one-third-acre lot.

The power forward, 29, made five All-Star teams in the better part of eight seasons with the Clippers.

Rapper hops into hip home

Hip-hop star Wiz Khalifa has found a new joint to call home.

The rapper and songwriter of “Rolling Papers” and “Blacc Hollywood” fame picked up a home in Encino for $3.4 million.

The five-bedroom contemporary, built last year, features a pivoting front door, a floating staircase and 24-foot-high ceilings in the common rooms. Pocketing glass doors open from the living room, which has a fireplace and a wine bar, to a covered patio space that overlooks the swimming pool. There’s also an outdoor kitchen.

Khalifa, 31, has collaborated with artists such as Big Sean, Snoop Dogg and the late Mac Miller, and released six studio albums.

Where they hosted in L.A.

Television host Mary Hart and her husband, producer Burt Sugarman, have sold their high-rise home at the Ritz-Carlton Residences at L.A. Live for $6.3 million.

Drawing attention away from the sleek 4,170 square feet of interior space are the skyscraper views from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The three-bedroom, four-bathroom downtown condo was customized during their ownership to create a high-end resort vibe.

Hart, 68, hosted “Entertainment Tonight” for nearly three decades ending in 2011.

Sugarman, 80, is known for producing “The Newlywed Game” and the late-night music show “The Midnight Special.” Among his film credits is the Oscar-nominated drama “Children of a Lesser God” (1986).

“Arrested” ownership?

Actor and comedian Tony Hale has sold a home in the historic Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles for $1.56 million.

Owned by the “Veep” and “Arrested Development” star for more than a decade, the Traditional-style home dates to 1937 and retains many character details.

The 2,226-square-foot floor plan includes four bedrooms and three updated bathrooms.

Hale, 48, appeared last year in the films “The 15:17 to Paris,” “Sadie” and “Love, Simon.” He has a voice role in the upcoming animated film “Toy Story 4.”

J-Roll rotates into Encino

Former professional baseball player Jimmy Rollins has circled the bases on his second home purchase in as many years, buying an Encino showplace through a corporate entity for $8.7 million.

The newly built house, set behind gates on a half-acre, packs amenities into its 11,000 square feet, including multiple bars, an elevator and a media room with a candy wall. Counting the guest house, there are nine bedrooms and 10.75 bathrooms.

Balconies and a 3,000-square-foot rooftop deck create additional living space outdoors. A zero-edge swimming pool with a waterfall feature and a spa sits between the main house and guest house.

Rollins, 40, is a three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove Award-winner who played 17 seasons for the Philadelphia Phillies, Dodgers and Chicago White Sox.

A stage set for a buyer

With its arched, ivy-covered entry way, stonework and wood foyer, this English Tudor-inspired house in Encino Hills listed at $3.299 million looks like the set for a British mystery. Now all that television and theatrical director Steve Zuckerman and his wife, talent manager and theatrical producer Darlene Kaplan, need to do is cast some home buyers.

A steep gabled roof, half-timbering and leaded-glass windows underscore the architectural style of the house. The living room has soaring beamed ceilings, massive diamond-pane windows and a brick fireplace. The 5,422-square-foot floor plan also includes a den, a study/office, four bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

A tennis court, a covered patio and a swimming pool complete the more than one acre of grounds.

Zuckerman’s scores of credits include directing episodes of “Murphy Brown,” “The Golden Girls” and “Everybody Loves Raymond.” Kaplan has served as casting director for “Law & Order,” “Coach” and “Columbo,” among other shows.

Ten years ago, actor Vondie Curtis-Hall and his wife, Kasi Lemmons, were marketing their Hollywood Hills home at $2.295 million. The 3,188-square-foot Spanish-style house had 360-degree views of the city and ocean from its hilltop perch.

Twenty years ago, Bond actor Pierce Brosnan listed a 6-acre ocean-view home site in Malibu at just under $1.2 million.

What we’re reading

TV impresario Shonda Rhimes took Architectural Digest inside her 8,400-square-foot L.A. home. With the help of architect Bill Baldwin and White House designer Michael Smith, she has returned the 1923 Italianate villa to a condition that rivals its original glory.

Don’t fall for this home improvement scam, warns House Beautiful. A con artist appears to be arranging jobs using the names of “Property Brothers” Drew and Jonathan Scott and then requesting payment over the internet.

Interior designer Dina Holland, based in Needham, Mass., began her now-popular Instagram account, “PleaseHateTheseThings,” by posting design fails, reports Realtor.com. Among the worst ideas she has found in bathrooms: the see-through toilet bowl.
