And the launch date of the Apple iPad 3 will be? For the record, Apple hasn’t said yet, but the latest rumor is that the iPad 3 (or whatever it will be called) will be unveiled March 7.

On Monday, the website iMore reported that “sources who have been reliable in the past” told it that Apple’s next iPad will launch March 7 and pack a retina display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, a quad-cord processor and “possibly 4G LTE networking.”

The retina display, the quad-core CPU and the 4G rumors all line up with the speculation that has been circulating for months, but iMore’s report of a March 7 launch date is new. Shortly after, Apple-centric blog The Loop quoted iMore’s report and simply added, “Yep.”

Apple, which has a policy of not commenting on rumors, did not respond to requests for comment Monday afternoon.

The March 7 rumor arrives less than a week after the tech news site AllThingsD reported that the iPad was set to launch sometime in the first week of March and was likely go on sale “a week or so after the event.”

Stay tuned. When Apple does officially announce the next iPad’s unveiling, we’ll let you know.
