AT&T; announces 3 upcoming HTC phones, Samsung Galaxy Camera
AT&T; on Thursday announced several upcoming devices, saying it plans to add three more HTC phones and be the first to launch Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Camera.
The Texas-based carrier said it will be adding two more exclusive HTC Android phones, the One X+ and the One VX, along with the HTC Windows Phone 8X.
The HTC One X+ will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and come with 64 GB of storage. The phone will have a 1.7Ghz Tegra 3 quad-core processor and a fifth core dedicated solely to light activity. The other four cores kick in for more demanding apps.
The One X+ will feature a 4.7-inch HD screen and an 8-megapixel rear camera. It is the follow-up to the HTC One X and looks very much the same, except it comes only in black.
The HTC One VX, a lower-end device, features a 4.5-inch display and a 5-megapixel rear camera. It runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Both of the Android phones are listed as “coming soon.”
As for the HTC Windows Phone 8X, one of the first Windows Phone 8 devices, it will arrive next month. It features a 4.3-inch HD display as well as an 8-megapixel rear camera. It runs on a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor and has 16 GB of storage.
No pricing was given for any of the devices.
AT&T; also announced it will be the first U.S. carrier to launch the Samsung Galaxy Camera, an upcoming Android-powered point-and-shoot device.
The camera features a 4.8-inch HD screen and will be able to connect to AT&T;’s 4G network. It runs on a quad-core 1 Ghz processor and uses Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
The Galaxy Camera boasts a 16-megapixel sensor and a retractable lens that has 21x optical zoom. You’ll be able to download apps like Instagram onto the device and upload pictures from the camera to the apps without going through a computer.
AT&T; said pricing for the Galaxy Camera “will be announced when it goes on sale in the coming week.”
Earlier Thursday, AT&T; also announced it would exclusive carry the Windows Phone 8 Nokia Lumia 920.
