Google announced and began taking preorders for the Nexus 7 last month.

The company developed the 7-inch screen tablet; Asus manufactures it. The Nexus 7 has a 1,280 by 800 pixel HD display and a powerful Nvidia Tegra 3 1.2 Ghz quad-core processor.

The tablet is available for about $200 from Google for the 8 GB version and about $250 for a 16 GB version.

Staples and GameStop also are selling the Google tablet, which runs on the latest version of Android, Jelly Bean.

The Nexus 7 is a direct competitor to the Amazon Kindle Fire, another 7-inch screen tablet. You can check out what we though about the Nexus 7 here.
