Report: Samsung to unveil Galaxy S IV smartphone in March

Share

A new report online says Samsung could announce its next flagship smartphone as early as March.

The South Korean tech company has been reported by Asia Economic News as looking at March 22 for the Galaxy S IV’s announcement, according to BGR, which translated the report into English. The announcement could take place in the U.S. “at Apple’s doorstep,” the report said.

But despite a possible March announcement, the phone is not likely to go on sale until April, according to SamMobile.

The website dedicated to Samsung news also says the next Samsung flagship phone might not be called the “Galaxy S IV” as the number four is considered bad luck in South Korea and other Asian countries.

Meanwhile, another report by BGR says a picture of what could be the Galaxy S IV phone is available on Picasa.

The image shows what it says is the Galaxy S IV next to the Galaxy S III. The alleged Galaxy S IV is taller, seems to have a bigger screen and doesn’t appear as rounded as the Galaxy S III.

BGR points out that the image shows the date “April 22,” which could be a clue for when the phone will go on sale. That would line up with several other rumors that say Samsung is expected to launch its next flagship that month.
