A 69-year-old Harvey man was killed and two people were wounded during a shooting that broke out during a poker game early today at the deceased man's home.
Thomas Childs was pronounced dead shortly after midnight in his home in the 100 block of East 144th Court, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Childs suffered several gunshot wounds, the office said.
Two other people in the home also were shot during a robbery that occurred while the group was playing poker, according to an emailed statement from Harvey spokeswoman Sandra Alvarado.
Those victims were taken to area hospitals but their conditions and genders were not known.
Alvarado described the incident as "isolated" and said the motive of the shooting was robbery.
"The suspects had probably been in the home prior to today's incident and were familiar to the victims,'' the statement read.
It was not known if anyone has been arrested and Alvarado said the investigation was ongoing.
