Live at Broad museum opening gala: An A-list red carpet, plus a surprise rocker onstage

The Broad museum gala

The Broad, with its patterned “veil” of fiberglass-reinforced concrete, is the backdrop to the black-tie gala red carpet Thursday evening in downtown Los Angeles.

Be our “plus one” as The Times covered the black-tie launch party of the Broad, Los Angeles’ new contemporary art museum and civic landmark across the street from Walt Disney Concert Hall. Follow the night’s dispatches from arts reporter Deborah Vankin and assistant managing editor for arts and entertainment John Corrigan as they moved from the red carpet to the tableside conversations to the stage.
