Neither White House invaders nor a team of aging comedians could expel “Monsters University” from the top of Rentrak’s DVD sales chart.

The prequel to Pixar’s hit computer-animated family film “Monsters, Inc.” was the top-selling DVD and Blu-ray title in its second week in release, coming in ahead of newcomers “White House Down” and “Grown Ups 2.”

“Grown Ups 2,” the sequel starring Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James and David Spade, received overwhelmingly negative reviews and made almost $134 million in U.S. ticket sales and came in second in the disc derby.

In third place was “White House Down,” the action thriller with Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum, which made $73 million at the domestic box office.

The Nov. 5 release of an extended edition of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” shot sales of the title up to No. 4, after the film based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien had already spent 34 weeks on retail shelves.

The buddy cop comedy “The Heat,” starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, followed in fifth place.
