In the new movie “The Beach Bum,” Matthew McConaughey plays a rebellious stoner living the good life in South Florida.

The trailer for the movie, which was filmed in greater Miami and Key West, was released this week. And it shows McConaughey with long, stringy blond hair as “Moondog,” who parties hard, smokes, golfs and goes boating in the region.

“You have pissed away your talent on women and booze,” a character played by Jonah Hill tells him.

But when Moondog faces a judge, she gives him a warning: “It all stops now. And if you mess this up, it’s jail time.”

McConaughey’s character is also seen reciting poetry and writing “the next great American novel” on an old red typewriter.

“The Beach Bum” comes out March 29.

Scenes were shot in the region in November 2017, when the production held a casting call for extras and roles, including upscale Palm Beach types and hipsters and beach bum and tourist types.

The movie also stars Zac Efron, Snoop Dogg, Isla Fisher and Jimmy Buffett. Also in the cast: Martin Lawrence, who is currently shooting the third “Bad Boys” movie with Will Smith in Atlanta. That production is set to come to Miami in the spring.
