Chris Evans | 'Captain America: The First Avenger' (2011)

Character: Captain America, a superhero who gained his abilities volunteering for a top secret government project. Weight change: Evans needed to put on 20 pounds of muscle for the role, but his fast metabolism hindered him. "Working out sucked, eating sucked more. You get to a point where you just can't even look at another piece of chicken," he said at a news conference. Method: Evans worked with weights two hours each day for four months, on top of adhering to a high-protein and high-calorie diet. There's more: With at least two more movies that call for Captain America on the way ("Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "The Avengers: Age of Ultron"), expect Evans to bulk up again come 2014 and 2015.
