Actress Haylie Duff engaged to Matt Rosenberg; gets cooking show

Actress Haylie Duff announced her engagement to boyfriend Matt Rosenberg on Thursday. Duff, who writes a food blog called the Real Girl's Kitchen, will debut a cooking show of the same name on the Cooking Channel in June.

Haylie Duff has cooked up something exciting and it’s no joke: She and boyfriend Matt Rosenberg are engaged.

The actress-turned-cookbook-author announced the news on her food blog, the Real Girl’s Kitchen, on Thursday, noting that the proposal took place on April Fools Day.

“This week has seriously just become the best week of my life!” the self-taught cook wrote. “As if announcing The Real Girl’s Kitchen tv show wasn’t enough, Matt just took me by total surprise and proposed…on April Fool’s Day of all days! The moment was genuine and sweet (like him!) and I couldn’t wait to say yes!”

The 29-year-old also shared two snapshots prominently displaying her new round sparkler and signed off the note with, “Love, The Future Mrs. Rosenberg.”

Duff and Rosenberg, owner of apparel line Subway Tile Shirts, have been together about a year and a half, her rep told People. Duff, actress Hilary Duff’s older sister, will kick off her blog’s same-titled TV series on the Cooking Channel with 10 episodes in June, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“We are so excited and happy to share our wonderful news with everyone!” the “7th Heaven” alum said of the engagement. “We both feel so blessed to have the love and support of our family and friends and can’t wait to start this new adventure!”

Her newly single younger sister, the former star of the Disney Channel’s “Lizzie McGuire,” also took to social media to share the exciting news.

“So happy to not have to keep this news in!! My beautiful sister and her amazing boyfriend are engaged!!!” Hilary Duff tweeted Thursday, adding, “Love you guys so much!!!!”

It’ll be the first marriage for Duff, who was previously linked to “2 Broke Girls” actor Nick Zano for three years before calling it quits in 2011, Us Weekly reported.
