Dave Coulier, ‘Full House’ guys interpret Alanis Morissette song

Share

Dave Coulier had some ‘fessing up to do when he and “Full House” alums Bob Saget and John Stamos appeared on Andy Cohen’s late-night talker “Watch What Happens Live!” on Thursday.

The Bravo host specifically wanted to know everything about Alanis Morissette’s 1995 Grammy-winning breakup song, “You Oughta Know,” which was reportedly about Coulier, who played affable stand-up comic Uncle Joey on the long-running sitcom.

In his best Morissette impression, Cohen went through the song, lyric by lyric, in his “Here’s What” segment, repeating the questions posed to her ex by the grungy songstress. (Italics will now be used to reflect their impressions of Morissette’s whining tone. You’re welcome.)

“Was your next girlfriend after Alanis an older version of her?” Cohen asked, to the delight of Coulier and his former costars.

“Yes. She was 87 years old,” the 54-year-old quipped. Then, in a bromantic move of camaraderie, Saget and Stamos began jumping in to answer the lyrical questions. Yes, these dudes still hang out, even though their show went off the air in 1995.

“Was she perverted like Alanis?” Cohen asked.

“She was not,” said “How I Met Your Mother’s” Saget, 57.

“Did she really bug you in the middle of dinner,” Cohen faux-sang.

“She still does,” Coulier quipped, taking a drink. Saget then volunteered the information that he was actually at Coulier’s house when that happened.

“You have to know this,” Saget said. “I was at his house and he said, ‘Alanis just hung up on me and said sorry for calling you during dinner ... I was at his house when she said that to him.”

Stamos, 50, later interjected during the inquisition and verified that Morissette had written the song about his former costar.

“When I heard that song, she’s so angry,” Stamos said. “But she’s singing about the guy that does Bullwinkle and Popeye” impersonations.

“Well was she quickly replaced?” Cohen continued.

“You’re in the zone on all these,” Saget said. “She was quickly replaced by somone, another version of her. ...

“And that’s why she was so angry,” Stamos offered.

It should be noted that Morissette has since moved on from Coulier. The singer married Mario Treadway in 2010 and the couple has a 3-year-old son named Ever. As for Coulier, it’s unclear who he’s been dating since Morissette.

Meanwhile, the “Full House” guys are doing their rounds — reuniting on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” participating in a Reddit AMA Q&A; and appearing on ABC’s “Good Morning America” — leading up to the premiere of their joint Super Bowl commercial for Dannon Oikos yogurt that is set to air during Sunday’s big game.

The actors also talked up a twist sequel to “Full House,” Saget’s upcoming memoir, dirty comedy, a dating rumor about Stamos and actress Demi Moore and his Lori Loughlin romance, and were surprised by costar Candace Cameron, who played DJ Tanner, eldest daughter to Saget’s Danny Tanner.
