Ewan McGregor plays a writer who's hired to help write the memoirs of Britain's former prime minister. Once he gets involved with the manuscript, he learns he may be in big trouble. Oscar potential: Despite his ongoing legal troubles, the academy has been very forgiving of director Roman Polanski. He won a director Oscar for "The Pianist" in 2003. Judging from the mostly good reviews for his latest effort, he could be in the running again. Review: Los Angeles Times film critic Kenneth Turan says that with " 'The Ghost Writer,' a dark pearl of a movie whose great flair and precision make it Polanski's best work in quite a while, the 76-year-old director forcefully reminds us what all the fuss was about."
