The Steve Tisch Cinema Center at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills officially opens May 1 with the Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival’s gala honoring Carl Reiner.

The festival will also pay tribute opening night to Sid Caesar, who died in February, with a screening of “Ten From Your Show of Shows,” a 1973 compilation film of classic sketches from the landmark TV series, “Your Show of Shows,” which starred Caesar and Reiner.

The Saban Theatre, which opened in 1930 as the Fox Wilshire movie palace, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

“The establishment of the Steve Tisch Cinema Center will allow us to recapture the storied legacy of film premieres and screenings,” said Rabbi David Baron of the Beverly Hills Temple of the Arts at the Saban Theatre.

“It will enable us to continue keeping this venue open to our community for festivals and special events.”

Tisch, 65, is not only a prolific film producer (“Forrest Gump”), he is also chairman and executive vice president of the New York Giants football team. Tisch is the only person to have won an Academy Award and a Super Bowl ring.
