'Mighty Joe Young' (1949)

One of Harryhausen's earliest successes was the giant gorilla movie "Mighty Joe Young." Harryhausen worked as a technician on a visual effects team that included Willis O'Brien, the stop-motion animator responsible for "King Kong." The film later won the Academy Award for visual effects, and O'Brien accepted the Oscar.
