Bruno Mars drafts R. Kelly and Pharrell for bawdy ‘Gorilla’ remix

Share

How to make Bruno Mars’ delightfully naughty “Gorilla” a little naughtier? With help from R. Kelly and Pharrell.

That’s who Mars hit up for a just-released remix of the song, a raunchy highlight from the singer’s great 2012 album, “Unorthodox Jukebox.”

Posted Friday on Twitter (following a Q&A; that Mars conducted there), the new version expands on the original’s wildlife theme, with Kelly describing himself as “an anaconda in your garden” and Pharrell proposing some carefully chosen yoga positions.

“I’ll be going ape on it, babe,” Kelly promises, “All up in the forest going crazy.”

Mars’ replies to his fans’ questions were somewhat less valuable, though to be fair the questions were pretty useless too.

One exception: After initially saying he’d passed on the opportunity, Mars said he’d tried pole dancing while shooting the exuberantly NSFW music video for “Gorilla,” in which Mars and his band portray the live entertainment -- well, part of the live entertainment -- in a grungy strip club.

“I’m Free!!” he wrote.

We can’t embed the “Gorilla” remix here due to some language more vivid than what we quoted above, but it’s available to hear on YouTube. Start hoping now that Kelly and Pharrell show up next year for Mars’ halftime performance at the Super Bowl.
