Gun expert Greg Rodriguez of Sportsman Channel shot to death

Greg Rodriguez, big-game hunting expert and host of TV’s “A Rifleman’s Journal,” has been shot to death.

Rodriguez was killed near the resort town of West Glacier, Mont., while visiting a local woman, according to an Associated Press report. Police believe the shooter was the woman’s husband, who later returned to his home and killed himself. Rodriguez, 43, was married with two children.

“Rifleman’s Journal” on the Sportsman Channel focuses on Rodriguez’s specialty, big-game hunting in exotic locations all over the world, along with marksmanship tips to viewers. The host also founded the travel company Global Adventure Outfitters and worked at Shooting Times and Guns & Ammo magazines.

An email to a Sportsman Channel representative requesting comment was not immediately returned.

Sportsman Channel, owned by InterMedia Outdoors (which also owns Shooting Times and Guns & Ammo), is available in more than 31 million U.S. households. The channel was launched in 2003.
