There’s life in “CSI” yet: CBS has picked up another spinoff of the long-running crime franchise.

Patricia Arquette will star in “CSI: Cyber,” which will be the third spinoff from “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” which has run on CBS since 2000. “CSI: Miami” ended its run in 2012, “CSI: NY” a year later.

This will be a homecoming for Arquette at CBS, where she starred in the crime drama “Medium” from 2009 to 2011. The show had earlier run on NBC.

Arquette will play the special agent in charge of the FBI’s cybercrime unit. Earlier this year CBS ran the spinoff as a special episode of “CSI.”

CBS has not indicated whether “CSI: Cyber” will premiere during the fall or the midseason. The network is preparing to announce its full fall lineup next week during a presentation to advertisers in New York.
