4th of July dining: 50-cent chicken wings, 25-cent corn dogs and more patriotic specials

There’s more to the Fourth of July than fireworks. Here’s a slew of holiday happenings to keep the drinks, barbecue and patriotism flowing:

Café del Rey dinner and fireworks: Café del Rey will be serving an Americana-inspired three-course prix fixe dinner for $40 per person. The menu includes chicken wings; spinach salad with avocado, strawberries, candied walnuts and goat cheese; barbecued short ribs, chicken or salmon with corn on the cob, mashed potatoes and coleslaw; and watermelon sorbet. “Red, White and Brunch”: To celebrate Independence Day, Tortilla Republic will extend brunch hours: Thursday, July 4, to Sunday, July 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The brunch menu features huevos divorciados with poached eggs, tomatillo sauce, bacon, beans, tortilla strips and queso fresco; seared ahi and sweet potato hash with wilted greens and poached eggs; and fresh corn and blueberry pancakes. Mohawk Bend BBQ and Booze: For the whole weekend, Mohawk Bend will be serving vegan and non-vegan barbecue specials, such as barbecue chicken pizza sliders, pulled chickpea sandwiches and hickory smoked spare ribs. Drink specials include $6 cocktails and a $10 “Red, White & Brew Liberty Beer Flight” of Mermaid’s Red from Coronado, Telegraph White Ale from Telegraph, Blue House Pale from El Segundo and Liberty Pale Ale from Anchor. 2141 W. BBQ/picnic DIY: Entertaining will be a breeze this Fourth of July with Daily Grill’s Barbeque Bags and Picnic Bags. For $30 per person, each Barbeque Bag includes all of the makings and detailed instructions for potato salad with a balsamic vinaigrette; spring vegetable skewers with balsamic glaze; corn on the cob and compound butter; a choice of a seasoned and marinated skirt steak or a citrus salmon filet; artichoke and roasted red pepper aioli; and key lime pie with raspberry sauce and whipped cream. The Hudson BBQ: The Hudson will be offering a barbecue special from Thursday to Sunday. For $14, you can have your choice of either Jidori barbecue chicken or barbecue pulled short ribs served with smoked bacon baked beans, butter grilled corn on the cob and watermelon. Napa Valley Grille happy hour: On Thursday, the Napa Valley Grille will extend happy hour from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. In addition to its usual small plates and cocktails, there will also be all-day specials such as 50-cent chicken wings, $2 Pabst Blue Ribbon and the Firecracker, a layered red, white and blue cocktail, for $4. 1100 Glendon Ave., Los Angeles, (310) 824-3322.

“Red Hot & Brew”: Tony’s Darts Away is featuring a Louisiana sausage (or spicy vegan sausage) with corn and pepper relish, and a half pint of Golden Road beer for $7.40.
