Cappuccino-flavored Lay’s potato chips are headed to stores
Frito-lay is getting ready to roll out four new flavors this summer as part of its annual Lay’s “Do Us a Flavor” contest to find the next great chip flavor. Get ready for Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese, Mango Salsa, Wasabi Ginger and Cappuccino.
Yes, a coffee-flavored potato chip was one of the four flavors chosen as a finalist in the contest, reported the Associated Press. Great news for coffee lovers, until you learn the chips don’t actually contain any coffee, or caffeine.
All four flavors will be available for sale later this month, and people will be able to vote for their favorite flavor online through Oct. 18.
The person who submitted the winning flavor will win $1 million and have their flavor sold nationally. Last year, Cheesy Garlic Bread won the contest, winning over more fans than Sriracha and Chicken & Waffles.
These new flavors are definitely more inventive than Sour Cream and Onion, but we’re nowhere near Japan’s level of flavored snacks. Wasabi Ginger sounds great, but we’re still dying for a taste of those elusive Avocado and Cream Cheese Doritos.
