Battle of the Burgers: 20 finalists, lots of grilling to do

Share

Well, there goes the budget for the L.A. Times Test Kitchen. One of the top 20 vote getters in our first ever Battle of the Burgers is the “I Foie’d the Law” burger, which calls for a slab of foie gras on top of a beef-and-pork burger. It was proudly entered by Trevor Myers of Vista.

In all, we received nearly 90 recipes. Times Test Kitchen manager Noelle Carter and the food staff will spend this week testing and tasting (what a hard job, don’t you think?), and we’ll publish our favorites in print on June 30, just in time for your Fourth of July barbecue planning. Here’s the rest of the Top 20 finishers:

Robert Burmeister of Staten Island, N.Y., for German Cuban Pork Burger

Brooks Walker of Folsom for Red, White and Blueberry Burger

Scott Richardson of Orlando, Fla., for Surf ‘N Turf Bacon Burger

Shanna Holzer of Culver City, for Glorious Kitfo Burger

Michaela Rosenthal of Woodland Hills, for Beauty and the Beef Burger

One World Vegetarian Cuisine of West Covina for One World Garden Burger
