Designers: Professor Christian Blyt's students at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada Designer statement: Blyt assigned the students in his 15-week course to interview homeless people and directors of shelters and support agencies, then design a structure made of pine beetle wood. About 30% of their building materials had to be recycled, and each design had to cost less than $1,500.
