Torah scrolls

Rabbi Isaac Leider, of New York, wades through waist-deep toxic floodwaters with six Torah scrolls from Congregation Beth Israel in New Orleans. The scrolls are hand-written, and some of them are believed to be more than 100 years old. "Out of six, only two are restorable," Leider said. "I'm glad that we did this, but I'm disappointed. It's bad to see them in this condition."
