Shop for one-of-a-kind gifts at these 23 L.A. holiday markets and craft fairs

  • Whether at a large market or an artist’s studio, you’ll find something special at this year’s holiday markets in L.A.
  • Shop for ceramics, jewelry and artisanal foods and other handcrafted wares during the winter season holiday markets.

If you prefer shopping small and avoiding big-box stores and jam-packed malls, L.A.’s annual holiday markets and craft fairs are a good place to start.

Featuring handmade works by independent designers and artists, these markets offer an opportunity to find something truly special by local makers, each with their own personal story. Whether at a large event such as the Renegade Craft Fair at the Santa Monica Airport or more intimate pop-ups like the winter market at Plant Material in Altadena, where many of the artists lost their homes in the Eaton fire, your support will not only help these artists but also the entire Los Angeles community.

The best stocking stuffers, gift shops, gifts under $40, gifts for teens, food gifts, experiences gifts, gifts for gardeners and many more finds are on the L.A. Times Holiday Gift Guide.

Also, if you’re feeling ambitious and want to head north, you’ll find L.A. artists represented at the Findings Market Holiday Fair in Ventura on Nov. 29, Homespun Market on Dec. 6 in Santa Barbara and West Coast Craft in San Francisco on Nov. 22 and 23.

To help you plan your holiday shopping — and make the most of your time during this busy season — we’ve compiled a chronological list of winter markets, open studios and craft fairs in Los Angeles. Did I miss one of your favorites? Please send me a message at lisa.boone@latimes.com.
