Los Angeles police Wednesday night were seeking witnesses to a brutal beating at Venice Beach that was captured on video footage and posted on YouTube.

The attack took place Tuesday around 10:30 p.m. near the Boardwalk on Ocean Front Walk, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Officers responded to a call of a fight in progress but arrived to find that the victim and his attacker had fled.

The video footage shows a man strike the victim at least three times with a skateboard. The victim falls to the ground and is repeatedly struck by the attacker as another man watches.

Someone can then be heard shouting that the police are coming, according to the video.

The video was shot by a resident who told KTLA-TV Channel 5 that the violence on the boardwalk is getting worse.

“We call the police so many times,” the man told the TV station, adding that the area has been “getting a lot crazier.”
