Murrieta woman arrested after police find rocket launcher

Police serving a drug-related search warrant in Murrieta found a shoulder-fired rocket launcher and other military equipment in a storage facility, authorities said Friday.

Officers with the Murrieta Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team were serving the warrant Thursday afternoon at in the 24000 block of Troyes Lane. The investigation led them to a nearby storage facility, according to a written statement by Sgt. Steve Dyer.

Inside the facility, officers found the equipment, including the rocket launcher and a 3-foot military projectile. The rocket launcher was unloaded, though it is a felony to possess it, and the projectile was determined to be an inert training round, Dyer said.

Ekaterina Lanas, 35, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a destructive device and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Two other people -- Jonathan Hamilton, 28, and Melissa Johns, 29 -- were being held on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
