Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Running Springs, Calif.

A shallow, magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Monday afternoon four miles from Running Springs, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 2:29 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3.7 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was nine miles from Lake Arrowhead, nine miles from Big Bear City, 11 miles from Highland, Calif., and 287 miles from Phoenix.

In the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
