Poppy reserve abloom again

Share

After recent lackluster seasons, the California Poppy Reserve is again painted in orange and yellow hues across the rolling hills near Lancaster.

The timing couldn’t be better, as recent rains spurred the Antelope Valley reserve to fuller blooms in time for the Poppy Festival this weekend, April 26 and 27, at Lancaster City Park.

The 3.5 inches of rain in late March has helped create one of the best blooms the Antelope Valley has seen in years. The Reserve is open from sunrise to sunset, but best times to go are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., when the poppy petals are open to the sunlight.
