Sam Morin worked his way onto the ice during his latest stint with the Philadelphia Flyers, it just didn’t last long.
After getting called up by the Flyers last Wednesday, Morin saw action in two games, but was loaned back to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Monday. The Flyers loaned Morin to create a roster spot for defenseman Andrew MacDonald, who was activated from injured reserve Monday.
Before his injury, MacDonald scored one goal in eight games for the Flyers this year.
Morin, who began the season on the Flyers roster but didn’t play in any games before he was loaned back to the Phantoms Oct. 11, didn’t record any points in the two games — Wednesday and Friday — which were both against the New York Islanders. The 22-year-old was plus-1, had one shot on goal and recorded four penalty minutes while averaging just under 16 minutes of time on ice between the two games.
The games were the second and third of his NHL career. He made his debut at the end of last season with the Flyers on April 4 against the New Jersey Devils.
An injury prevented Morin from another promotion earlier this year and instead Will O’Neill was called up and made his NHL debut.
Morin has appeared in 10 games this season with the Phantoms and has one goal, four assists and is a plus-6.
