NYPD: A knock on door, then a bullet into a peephole
Police say a New York City woman who answered a stranger’s knock on her door by looking through the peephole nearly got shot through it.
The New York Police Department said Friday it’s looking for suspects in the incident Wednesday in the Bronx.
Police say it started when someone knocked on the door of the woman’s Wayne Avenue apartment around noon. She asked who it was. A man replied by asking if someone named Keith was home.
She said no one named Keith lived there. But moments later, another man rapped on the door and asked for “Keith” again.
The woman looked through the peephole — and the man at the door fired a bullet into it.
It hit the peephole’s metal casing and missed her. She wasn’t injured.
