How gifted is Marisol Hernández, the lead singer in the Grammy-winning Los Angeles band La Santa Cecilia?

So gifted that she stole the show at last month’s all-star Joni Mitchell tribute concert, “JONI 75: A Birthday Celebration” concert at the Los Angeles Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

Never mind that the lineup included James Taylor, Norah Jones, Graham Nash, Chaka Khan, Diana Krall and an array of other singers much better known than Hernández, whose stage name is La Marisoul.

Her electrifying version of Mitchell’s “Dreamland,” which paired members of La Santa Cecilia and Los Lobos, was simply transcendent.

Hernández clearly has vocal skills and charisma to spare. And she shines brightest with the socially inspired La Santa Cecilia, whose blend of Mexican, American and various Latin-music styles seems tailor-made for her talents.

La Santa Cecilia, with SM Familia: 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The Music Box, 1337 India St., downtown. $25-$67, plus service charges (must be 21 or older to attend). (619) 795-1337. musicboxsd.com
