San Diego Safari Park’s baby giraffe Kumi euthanized after being gored

Kumi, a 5-month-old male giraffe born at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, was euthanized near the end of December. Kumi had been gored, likely from an antelope in the same habitat.

La Jolla gallery charged in $1.3-million illegal ivory ring

More than 300 pieces of elephant ivory and items containing ivory were confiscated from the Carlton Gallery in the popular Prospect Street shopping area and a nearby warehouse. The items were valued at more than $1.3 million.
